Design of school amphitheatre and associated planting.
The aim of this project was to create an amphitheater within the school grounds to be used for outdoor lessons and classroom productions and to make the playground environment more attractive and appealing to primary school children.
Before work commenced the area was a dull and uninteresting tarmac space with a steep slope behind which was completely overgrown with vegetation. Preliminary work included conducting trail holes to establish how stable the slope was, and to determine the exact position of the proposed amphitheatre.
During the design process local artists were commissioned to work with the children to produce images that were subsequently used for a mosaic as a centerpiece for the amphitheatre. Soft landscaping was also carried out on the slope.
